About the role
Mesha breeds goats for mutton in large, controlled goat parks; the company says it is building a mutton business on goat genetics and breeding, and it started as a live goat trader. It is hiring a Procurement Manager to own all buying for its farms: goats, feed and farm supplies. The role plans purchases, finds and manages suppliers, negotiates prices and keeps the farms stocked on time, at the right quality and cost. It is on site with a lot of travel; accommodation and travel are provided.
What you'll do
- Make and run procurement plans for goats and farm supplies.
- Source and buy goats in line with breeding and farm needs.
- Find, evaluate and manage reliable suppliers and vendors.
- Negotiate prices, contracts, payment terms and delivery schedules.
- Make sure quality materials reach the farms on time.
- Track market prices and find ways to cut costs.
- Handle purchase orders, invoices and procurement records.
- Keep stock at the right level, with no shortages or wastage.
- Check that everything bought meets quality standards and the SOPs.
- Prepare procurement reports, budgets and supplier performance reviews.
- Build long-term supplier relationships and make the supply chain more efficient.
- Travel extensively for work as required.
Who should apply
- Strong knowledge of procurement practice, vendor management, cost analysis and supply chain coordination.
- Procurement experience in agriculture, livestock, animal feed, veterinary supplies or farm inputs preferred.
- Willing to work on site and travel extensively.
- Organised, detail-oriented and proactive; able to handle several responsibilities on your own.
